Here are some good pictures from Katy’s trip to Peru.  She saw some beautiful country, learned that the 10 minute squat test just isn’t for stretching and was a true Hunter Gatherer eating cute little guinea pigs for dinner!

For Time:

10 Squat Cleans

Run 155m

9 Squat Cleans

Run 155m

8 Squat Cleans

Run 155m

etc.. until you get to

1 Squat Clean

Run 155m

ATTENTION- anyone looking for something stupid to do this weekend?  Well here ya go!

A couple of quick updates as the fateful date is drawing near… The Burpee mile is confirmed for this coming Sunday – 10AM. Please RSVP if you plan to participate so we have an idea of how many will show up. People who want to witness this act of stupidity are also welcome. If you’d like to help out with a few simple tasks, let me know: need some people to document this for posterity, do water runs, dial 911, etc.

Here are the logistics:

FORMAT – As the title says: 1 mile or approximately 1,200 burpees + broad jumps. You can do it on your own or you can create a team of 4 to do a relay. This is not limited to CFTC – if you know other people who want to join in, feel free to invite them. If you want to do the relay, it’s up to you to put a team together or find one to join. Feel free to use this forum to find teammates or put a team together

LOCATION – Ogden Athletic Club track (Crossfit area). Long range weather forecast says cold and rain. IF the weather turns out to be nice, we will do it on the Bonneville HS track. I will make the call by saturday.

TIME – Start at 10 AM. Plan to be there around 9.30 AM so we can make a timely start. I expect this to take 1 1/2 hours for really good exercisers and up to 3 hours for mere mortals.

BRING – gloves – according to those who did this you WILL NEED them / fluids & food – you want to refuel unless you prefer to faint – the mile will be 10 1/2 (OAC) or 4 (BHS) laps, so bring a few bottles to place around the track / your favorite tunes – this will suck and music may soften it a bit

ATTITUDE – This is a challenge. It’s designed for you to fail unless you are willing to break through a few barriers – these barriers will be mental rather than physical. There are no time goals, rankings, or prizes. The only goal is to finish, whatever it takes. Remember DFL > DNF > DNS.

Good luck – post your questions and see you next sunday!

I can help out on Saturday…plus I would like to be a witness to the stupidity- really… a mile of burpees? It makes me want to throw up just thinking about it. You know how I just love, love , love those things.

Let me know how I can help, I’ll be at class tonight.

  2. This is Dominic – your friendly facilitator of this insanity. I started a thread on facebook – Crossfit Friends [http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=183676148340512] a few weeks ago but asked Lindsay to publish here so nobody would feel left out.

There have been a few requests to do this on a saturday instead. I cannot change the date on this one (too many folks already committed + track will be emptier on a sunday) but would consider a saturday for our next beat-down challenge.

Keep in mind that I am not trying to organize anything. My goal is to do something that’s a bit ‘out there’ once a month. I’m posting it hoping I don’t have to suffer through this alone. If someone wants to do this on saturday instead – by all means do it. If anything, it will give the sunday folks a benchmark to work to.

If you would like to watch or provide some help – you are more than welcome to drop in.

I will hang a sign-up sheet for individuals, teams and assistance on the whiteboard tonight. If you are game – put down your name.

  3. Thanks for the response Dominic! I hope you crazies have a great time on Sunday. I could be talked into doing it Sat if a group of people do, but no way on my own! 🙂
