Official Rules And Regulations for the Healthy Eating Challenge Summer 2014

This go around will be based on a simple point system. There will be 4 points possible each day. You will need to post your score daily on the poster board that will be hung in the CrossFit area. The point system will go as follows:

 

1 point for sleeping 8 hours each night

1 point for taking at least 1 tsp. of fish oil daily (250 mg of DHA 500 mg of EPA)

1 point for coming to CrossFit – working out at home or on vacation doesn’t count

1 point for drinking at least 64 oz. of water each day

 

You must subtract points for:

 

-1 point for any refined sugar intake: Alcohol, protein bars, cookies, cakes, candy, bottled or canned foods with sugar in the label. If in doubt DON’T!!!

-1 point for any type of grain: corn, wheat, quinoa, barley, oats, etc.

-1 point for any dairy: milk, cottage cheese, yogurt, Greek yogurt, etc. (Eggs and Unsweetened Almond Milk are acceptable)

-1 point for any legume: peanuts, peanut butter, black beans, kidney beans, chickpeas etc. (green beans and snap peas are acceptable)

 

This point system is to help you not hinder you. I want you thinking about a healthy approach to your diet. Not a crash and burn 40 days of killing yourself only to gain everything back you lose when you are done. So…. would I like you to go STRICT paleo, of course!!! But I understand it is very difficult and sometimes we fail, so try your best to go strict and implement grains or dairy when you feel you need to.

 

Some days you may have a negative score. For example: I didn’t get 8 hours of sleep (0 points), I forgot my fish oil (0 points), I didn’t make it to CrossFit (0 points), and I only drank 1 or 2 glasses of water (0 points) – Not to mention I had a diet coke at lunch (-1 point) and ate some of my kids McDonalds French fries (-1 point). So my total for the day is -2 points!!!! And guess what, now I have to go write in down on the poster board at the gym, I AM SO EMBARRASSED!!! Oh well, that’s life right!! Get back to eating healthy the next day!
